01 / AROUND YOUR HOME

What’s on your list?

A room that needs better light, a home that needs more power. Find your starting point.

Illustrative terrace dining room with a warm pendant light, timber table and courtyard doors.

Good lighting changes how home feels.

A softer dining room. A brighter bench. A hallway that finally makes sense. The right conversation starts with how you use the space—not a catalogue of fittings.

THE JOB, IN YOUR WORDS

What’s happening at your place?

Start with something familiar. Open a job below for the details worth sharing and a route to the right enquiry.

Non-urgent examples · no remote diagnosis
01The dining room needs better light.

Replacing a pendant, adding a dimmer or moving the light over the table? Tell us what is there now, the room and whether you have a fitting in mind. Compatibility and ceiling access need checking before a price.

02We’d like a ceiling fan in the bedroom.

Share the room, ceiling height if known and the fan model if already chosen. An existing light point does not by itself confirm that the support, wiring or controls suit a fan.

03There’s never a power point where we need one.

Think home office, kitchen bench or a new appliance. Say what you want to power and where. The electrician checks the existing circuit and installation options; this form does not assess capacity.

04Something keeps cutting out.

For a non-urgent example, describe what stopped working, which rooms are affected and when it started. There is no need to open, test or reset equipment to use this demo. A cause cannot be confirmed online.

05We’re renovating an older home.

Bring the proposed appliances, room changes and renovation sequence into the conversation. The existing switchboard and supply need professional assessment before upgrade requirements or a schedule are agreed.

06Can we charge the car at home?

The car, charger model, parking location and ownership arrangements all matter. A shared apartment car park needs a different discussion from a private driveway. Capacity, cable route and permissions still need a site review.

BEFORE ANY WORK IS AGREED

A clear quote. A clear yes.

A small job should come with the same clear explanation as a bigger one. Here is what to ask for when you move from an enquiry to an actual electrical appointment.

GOOD CURRENT / JOB NOTES
  1. 01

    Before the visit

Confirm any attendance or assessment fee, who will attend, access arrangements and the arrival window. A preferred day is only a request.

  2. 02

    Before you approve

Get the work, labour, fittings, exclusions and total price in writing. Clarify supplied-product responsibilities and any making-good work.

  3. 03

    If the job changes

Ask for the reason, the revised scope and the revised cost before approving additional work. Keep a written record of the decision.

  4. 04

    At handover

Review the work, ask how the new fittings operate, and keep the invoice, applicable compliance documents and written warranty terms.

This is an example of a service process. Good Current is fictional; no call-out rate, licence, guarantee or availability is being offered.
